Man. Grading homework's not fun!

But Chinatown's a better movie than expected! (I wonder who started the whole thing about making things italicized instead of underlined. I like underline!) But that'll teach me to judge by title. Chinatown's not about Chinatown at all. Or rather, it's about the attitude. A Chinatown of the mind, I suppose. The ending was quite a surprise, but I liked it, I guess, and it makes me want to watch the movie again, but not for the reason you might think. As in, yes, it's a murder mystery, but the mystery's not really the murder, and no, there wasn't any last minute reveal that I needed to go back and watch for (a la Usual Suspects). More like I'm suddenly wondering what would have happened if the main character was taken from the movie, and how everyone can have moments where morality is lost. But yes, I enjoyed it very much. There were things in there that don't see very often in movie nowadays, such as the violence, which was ugly and effective, or the way scenes are set in their own pace.

And now we know what happens to nosy detectives.
