fun feeds that I get on my friends page:
[livejournal.com profile] useless_facts which is wonderful because not only do I learn useless facts, I also learn about the debunking of other useless facts
[livejournal.com profile] food_porn which has some random stuff like getting vanilla beans off of eBay, or just random pictures. Of course, I'm all about the random recipe posts with accompanying photo that proves its working-ness.
[livejournal.com profile] marxistdotcomrs a new addition to my syn list, it posts commie news, which is really cool because it's so completely different from normal news. XD
[livejournal.com profile] draculablogged, an interesting thing where Dracula is present to you chronologically as the event "occurs" in the book. Kinda fun read when friends aren't updating, but these days just a looong thing to scroll through. Nice concept, though.

In other news, today I dug out my old math stuff from 7th and 8th grade for my brother to look at. It's amazing how well organized my stuff was back then. Y'know how nowadays stuff kinda gets piled up until I sit down at the end of a quarter and sort them into folders and file them? Back then I sorted each folder into "tests and projects" "homework and handouts" and "in-class notes". ... Okay, so I still sorta do that, except now it's more like "papers" "readings" "notes". But it's still impressive given the number of subjects back then. And all these files are in brown paper bags, clearly labelled and stacked in decending order. After 10th grade I switched to boxes. I'm such a pack rat! I also had ridiculously horrible handwriting back then. (Like, worse than how). So yes, spent bit of this morning reading my old 6th grade POWs. Whoa, I was one smart cookie back then! And so naive it hurts. (Okay, still naive, but hopefully less so). And 6th and 7th grade? utter waste of time! Math? what math? Let's learn how to write checks and travel around the world in 7-league boots! And I remembered how to factor. And like, omg Mr. Tsuruda. I still write my 9's like him.

Math is cool.

Formatting logic problem tables in Word is not.

I wrote my 9's like him for years. I think it was only in 11th or 12th grade that I switched back to the other kind.

He retired at the end of this past year-- did you see the article in the Mercury?

If among your notes you find something useful in teaching high school geometry, please let me know. I'm trying to teach it to Max and having trouble, as I never took it.

Also, 1 4-stick pack of butter is one pound or two cups of butter. So one stick is a quarter pound and a half cup. I think.
