Y'know what's magical on a hot day? Cupcake-sized Tiramisu. (Otherwise known as Sushu doesn't have a loaf-pan). But it's quite nice to have these small cool and refreshing nibbles. Plus, it helps control tiramisu intake! (In my case, having 2 or 3 of the little ones instead of having 1 of the whole thing.... although 1 is less than 3... hmm...)

I wish I knew more linguistics terms so I can properly label Chinese sounds of "s", "z", and "c".... they're um... dental fricatives? Anyways. Doesn't matter too much.

Take a look at this guy : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Mandarin#Phonology

Also, the "c" sound is particularly rare (it's something like an alveopalatal fricative), so the IPA symbol that they use might not exactly represent the sound perfectly...

Those sounds are pretty screwy for non-native speakers, and I never remember which sounds correspond to which pinyin letters, but I'm sure you can figure it out...

p.s. We totally miss you. Me and Cat and my folks went out for "chinese lunch", and my uncle got Pepper Steak. We thought of you. But, thankfully, we didn't get pig's feet.

I miss you too!

This is Jono again (aka He Who Continues to Resist Assimilation into Livejournal Collective Despite Obvious Benefits Such As Posting Under Own Name)

I am bookmarking your pronunciation guide. Could be useful.

So are you going to China and just not to Turkestan, on tuesday? Or are you not taking a trip at all?

I miss you a lot. ;_; I think about you all the time. When you come back I will make you all the gobo you want.
