well, my new lappy came. It is of similar size and weight. Brighter screen. (but also more adjustable). I'm currently probing it slowly. All in all, however, I think I'm glad that I made the decision I did. Because now I have double the functionality. While the windows system is familiar and comforting, the mac os system definitely has its perks. For one thing, I'm not hitting "ok" and "apply now". System changes are instantaneous. For another thing, it's cool on the lap, and doesn't make a loud noise. Programs aren't exactly, well, installed. On the other hand, I kind of miss the start menu. It's just a very different way of approaching and interfacing with the computer. Different lingo, different orientation. The Dock is... weird. Everything is so... visual. Yet at the same time, I find myself using the mouse less. It's crazy how different the fundamental ideology is. But it's nice that I have both, and so can get used to switching between the two, and I can pretty much use any program I want. I'm currently looking for an aim alternative that preferably does logging (tabs would be nice, too). Also a good LJ client. But as of right now, I'm "calibrating my battery"... ie, plugging it in and letting it recharge fully. (that battery lasted, like, 5 hours. It's like, crazy. :D

As usual, these equipments come with additionals that I then don't know how to store properly. I think I'm gonna go to Office Depot and getting one of those mini-toolbox things and starting a collection.

Also, mplayer seems to be in trouble. :(

I use trillian, it has logging. Does tabs mean that you can minimize the chat windows and they go on the bar at the bottom?

Tabs means that all chat windows are in one window, kinda like tabs in firefox or whatnot. :D I ended up getting Adium. It has a quacking duck. :D
