New Year!
A New Year. My birthday being when it is, the turn of the year is always very disorienting. Social things must be done and attended to, birthday cakes consumed, and there's a general feeling of newness.... yet simultaneously, repetition. It's all the same old thing. I've probably made the same conclusions and resolutions last year, and the year before, and so on and so forth. Changes do happen, but resolutions are more like tendencies.
Anyways, last year's resolutions:
1) Make a egotistical self-involved webpage.
- didn't. FAIL. :(
2) Get out of clubs that I don't like
- kinda did. Have mostly limited participation in stuff that really just doesn't interest me.
3) Read some classical Chinese.
- just did the other day. Also should check out the Reading Lit Chinese grad class this quarter.
4) Learn to bake things.
- kinda learning... Daddy apparently likes pumpkin pie more than apple pie.
And now, this year's:
1) Create something that you're proud of, in each of the categories: drawing, writing, and academic.
- drawing is kinda no duh, but there's also the question whether I want to go more for painty-type things, or more for comicky-type things
- writing sounds sorta silly. I know I'm not a good writer. But I seem so dissatisfied with half the things I read nowadays (when I bother to read. ^^;;), figure might as well try consciously to write something.
- academic is really the kicker. I want to write a paper that I'm honestly proud of, a paper where I say what I want to say, clearly and coherently, and I say what needs to be said, in a carefully packaged bundle, where I tie in everything I've read in the quarter, etc, and kick academic ass.

- given that I know what I want. ha ha. Well, the first step is recognition, no?
