An overall nice day.
I did some reading on Louis XIV, fiddled a bit with my Culture paper, and made relatively successful soupy dumplings with the help of gelatin and Isaac for dough kneading. There was a dinner party to celebrate the second coming of Isaac, presents were given and received. And general happiness punctuated with Aza-puns, some crooning of "Fliiight of Draaaagons--", and He-Man assuring us that he has the power! (the power of voodoo?)
I'm gonna write a bit on Louis XIV. Actually, the specific question is this:
"Discuss the significance of the 1721 image by Watteau (detail) to which Burke has given the title "Delouisfication." Then use your interpretation of that image as a point of departure from which to assess the monarchical absolutist project in France and to compare it with that in Brandenburg-Prussia."
Oh, Nicole, dear, this is what Joanne says: I thought we'd hang out at the Stonehenge for a day, go to Bath and then maybe across the water to Belfast (N. Ireland, I missed it last trip). Maybe Wales. But it's pretty much whatever we want. Any suggestions?
Oh, now that this trip is coming up... people who want postcards from me should leave their address. I wasn't *too* bad about it this summer, and hopefully it'll be easier in a country where I speak the language.
Note to self: go take picture of UChicago and make coffee mug for Michelle's family. And/or poke around gift-shop.
