Daddy was too busy to see Collateral, and he reminded me that we have a dinner engagement tomorrow, so I went to see Korean Monk Movie tonight. It was really cool. I think it says something when the monk movie had more deaths than my last samurai movie. But yes, another movie that creeps up on you. It's not obnoxiously artsy, which I'm happy about. And one of those movies that makes you want to drive home in silence. There was only a few parts I didn't get like the random kung fu in Winter (well, sorta got it) and of course, the symbolism of the snake. (C-- do you know?). I also didn't really like how the actors for each season doesn't bear physical resemblance to each other, but I guess the point is o match the season and not match the person... I also liked how few words were spoken. Oh, and the sex was well done in the way that Y Tu Mama Tambien was well done. There were just so many nice touches...

Anyways, watched some Olympics today... the women synchronized diving (yay Chinese!! Dad said what he says every Olympics: the side effect to diving is bad eyesight. Chinese divers' careers often end because of blindness), the US-Chinese women's volleyball, which was a *very* close game, so that was fun. And then tonight, the men's prelim gymnastics, where I discovered the cute floatiness of the Japanese team, and where lots of "gah!" things happened to all the other major contenders. New appreciation for the the pommel horse thingy. Man, can't wait for the women's. So how come Olympics soccer isn't as big a thing as the World Cup?

well, when the monk died, there was a closeup of the snake gliding across the river. There was a snake among his folded clothes. When the lady with the baby visited, the snake was asleep in the corner. "Summer" started with two snakes having sex, and I think there was a snake around the first time they had sex on the rocks. Is it some sort of metaphor for him? But why snake? ::not Korean::
