Day 1: 6/30/04

Okay, so I'm gonna post my photos day-by-day, and hopefully this way it won't take up too much diskspace.

Arrival at the Champs Elysees!  See our luggage!  See the Arc!  See that it is Noon!

Getting totally financially castrated by the outdoor cafes by the Arch.  Immediate differences noticed:  Entree isn't the main dish.  Bread doesn't come with butter.  Water doesn't come free.  That pointy thing on the table?  An ashtray.

around 3:30, we get to our little studio.  At first it was really bad b/c I really wanted to poop and we couldn't open the door.  (It was the wrong floor.  and the wrong door).  Difference: people here start counting from 0.  (Like computers)  Views from the window 1.

Views from the window 2.  There's photos of the place itself.  Just can't find them here.

After taking a looong nap, we went to find dinner, then a walk alone the Seine.

To reach the boat cruise!  This is the light at 10pm, people.

Man, the Seine.  Went under lots of bridges, saw lots of pretty lighted buildings.  The Eiffel Tower looks like a furball when it does the sparkly thing.  Laughed at/waved to the crazy folk paying high money to sit in a glassy boat and have pricey dinners.  A bunch of kids behind us from Italy kept on yelling "Fooooooootobohl" when passing under a bridge.  Some sort of celebration ritual or something.  Lots of people picnicking and watching "shows" by the Seine.  Saw capoeira and went "eep! conejita!".  The new bridge is old.  Wibbled at Notre Dame at Night.

On the walk back there were lots of people driving by honking and waving big Portugal flags.  Apparently they just beat someone in soccer or something.  Too bad I don't have a photo.  :(

Bonjour Paris! ^^
That place is really really really cool, esp. when you find all the little neighborhoods and some anglophilic hangouts...

Anyhoo, yeah isn't it bizarre how late the sun sets during the summer there?

Gorgeous picture of the sunset - and eee, you stayed in one of those apartments! I saw those and wondered what it was like up there. :)
