So got up early today, rode Caltrain->Bart into SF to get Visa. Visa gotten with few hitches. Then walked down to the ferry port thing and wandered around the market there. Found cute Chinese teahouse, so sat there and drank various top-notch teas from China while having a good chat with the mommy. Then went and got an obento box from the nearby Japanese lunch place and ate it sitting on the wharf. :) Then came home. Altogether very pleasant.
One of the issues about summer is that it's hard to concentrate on stuff. I have to keep telling myself that yes, I do have things to do.
So yes, I think I will now go downstairs and start investigating into this whole France issue, starting with Hotel and where we want to go, etc.
Then, later when most are asleep, I will probably come upstairs and do some scanning of teh sketchbook.
Some time tomorrow I want to go downtown and cash in Kate's subletter check and maybe buy a brush-pen or two. (currently in need of a foxy orange and a black)
Oh, you know what's really cute? My brother is creating his own role-playing game system, without having any previous knowledge about D&D and suchlike. It's interesting to see how he has HitPoints, Magic Points, Energy Points, Strength (STR), Endurance (END), Defence (DEF), IQ, various weaponry, a starting money, various fighting classes with point benefits, 3 races with different enhancements (elves get major bonuses but also level up slower and have lower "likability"), and weapons that upgrade with the level. Maybe if I teach him the magic of dice, we will eventually reverse-engineer DnD! Except right now he's doing this "think of a number between 1 and x" and then subtracting the difference between that number and the one in *his* head from 100 or whatevernot, which is an interesting way to create weight but also randomness into number selection.
Anyway, off to France-plotting!

nobody likes elves anyway...
DnD (D20) is only the best known system, there are a multitude of lesser known ones. Abstracting a character into numbers, it's kind of interesting ney?
DnD is open source now, so if you want to show your brother you don't have to buy the books.

then again, it might be fun to see what he comes up with on his own.
