Just got an email from this book company saying that they shipped my order yesterday. Um... I placed that order ... Jan 14th? That's like, 6 weeks ago? It's supposed to get here in 6-8 weeks, so it should be here by now? Ugh. And now they say it'll take 8-11 weeks. This is all because I'm a cheapo.
Today was fun. I went to this luncheon thing with this UN guy. He's one of those smart and cool people, with the right sort of subdued/wry humor that I enjoy. So yes, much fun with Joanne. Man, all these people have major connections. cray-zeee. Then after registering for classes, I ran home, showered and changed clothes in 15 minutes, then ran off to Confucius, reading enough Mencious on the way there to sound remotely coherent in class. I really should read the Chinese, though, because the English just manages to boggle me. Then it was off to the student art show that SMAC was hosting. I'm terrible at schmoozing, so I just made sure everything ran smoothly, and talked to random people that I knew. Isaac, Alexis, and Catherine showed up, so that was cool. I toured parts of the gallery more thoroughly. Oh, and Cora showed up, as did Kara. Also bumped into Ryan at the sushi table, and it was funny watching him try to place me. (you can see my crappy rendition of him here and here) And then there was DnD, which was fun though unproductive plot-wise. But I guess most of it is my fault anyway. "I want throwing axes! Where's Axmander?"
http://www-csli.stanford.edu/~john/procrastination.html is a kinda cute take on procrastination.
