Funny how easy it is to get distracted even without IM....
First I thinned my 180 message inbox to 80 things I can't delete. Maybe I'll have the courage to download them into my 2000+ messaged inbox now. Then I oogled at some of the wigs from an email link. 1) Wow, 2) if the character you're cosplaying has super-spikey hair that just looks unnatural outside of anime, why bother with this at all? Makes it even more unnatural. 3) Umm, is it that hard to get devise a Chise wig without bothering the poor girl?
Then somehow I wandered onto e-sheep to read Spiders and then some of the older stuff on there. Then it was catching up on random slashdot geekiness via LJ (and thus finding out about the coolness that is AllTheWeb.com and Kartoo.com as cool alternatives to Google. Seaching for music via alltheweb has been fun, although it's still not as convenient as Google in terms of quantity and the cached-ness. And the Google image search is still far superior. The Kartoo image/categorical search is especially fun to fool around with, despite some moderate clunkiness and inability to show nesting.)
But in the process, I suddenly discover an interview of mommy from 2002, I think. And I'm like, "WTF? Mommy got interviewed? How come I don't know about these things? Where was I?" And then, it's like "OMG, so *this* is what mommy has been working on!" See, I never get to hear these things stated in such complete terms. (It's always "well, she's gonna be in Texas for a day" or "she's muttering about cornerstones") And now I'm starting to understand what she's talking about. It's also shameful that her English is more articulate than mine. Also found this older "remark" that she made in 2001, where you see the earlier seeds of her "old book" research. Now there's all these random old math textbooks lying about the house, she's stopped the kindergarten thing (she was called "the Counting Lady"), but she's doing something in Mountain View that I haven't really asked her about. All I know is that they're using blogging as a way of teacher communication or something. Y'know, I should really interview my parents so that I know what the heck they're doing with their lives.
And what does Plenary mean? It sounds vaguely like a venereal disease. Or a really yucky drink.
But yes, now it's Super Late and I need to read about Ibn Taymiyya.
Maybe I need to be an Islamic Elf from Yemen with a funny name and an un-elf-like tan and an obssession with God.
