Back from Eva Marathon! The End of Eva movie was highly enjoyable, as was about half of Eva. Some of the tv-series pacing can be tweaked a bit, and the last two episodes was the hellcrack of existential philosophy-type things, but all in all, decent. I can see why it's a "classic", but I think a marathon's the only way I'd want to see it. Individual episodes don't pack enough oomph, especially the first half of the series. Well, at least I'll understand now when people make "Gendo" references. I still think RahXephon is a subtler, better-executed cousin, but it doesn't do the swift spiral into depression and madness as well. (or not at all) In either case, I wouldn't trust the recreation of humanity in the hands of either. Shinji is too lost, and Ayato is too normal. Except the weird family thing where everyone is brother/sister/mother of everyone else.
Watching it with anime club people was fun, too. I managed to finish my hat, but I guess I decreased too quickly, so I may re-do that part in situations where I have light. Thank god I gave up the seed stitch in the round thing after about 6 rows, b/c doing that while existential angst was happening did *not* work. I think I should stain/color my needles different colors so that I can tell where I started looping.

What's to see about the hat? It's just blue.
