Last night cadrach&kitsu-chan came over for some giggling over Condor Hero, which was fun. Didn't get Red and Black read, though. Oh well.
Today was boring as usual... Woke up, did some reading of Red and Black (ah, the familiar rush of reading 19th century authors! How I've missed this! Well, not really, but it was quite nice to fall into their sedate and musing pace of thought and social commentary) , realized won't finish 400 pgs in 1 hr, went to class, went to work (Once again it dawns on me that 3rd graders don't know how to read and can't do math beyond single-digit addition. "325 is between which two numbers?" "um... C) 426 and 537" "..."), came home and made sugared lotus roots stuffed with sweet rice, went to the Dali Yang talk about China's current state, went to watch State of the Union w/ YDS and other liberaly folks, participated in SoU drinking game (the guy who had Security, Laura Bush, and God got pretty drunk. Joanne got Hillary, WMD, and Iowa Caucus. I assigned myself education (school), Ahnold-related things, and Responsibility. Everyone was supposed to drink when both parties gave standing ovation, when Saddam & Osama are mentioned, and whenever someone from their state appeared on screen (which mostly meant Condoleezza Rice for me). But then, by drink I meant wet my lips, so didn't actually drink much. Was much amused by the guy who went through a 6 pack, and the guy w/ the whiskey bottle. Came home, checked on lotus root, made niangao mix. Will now go bake NianGao.
Wow, that was a bit iffy... turns out that the oven pilot light was out... so I've been blowing gas into the oven for the last 15 minutes... ouch. Well, fixed now.
Also, ex-roomie no longer friending me. Sigh of relief!
