The bed came! Yay! So now there's ... room... in my room! Much joy. I also got a tree lamp thingy from Office Depot, but 1) I forgot lightbulbs and 2) I can't decide where to put it. (living room or own room?). Once I bedsheet the bed, I'll be taking room-surround pics.
So. Last night was quite interesting. After teaching Mousie for an hour, Jing decided that we should make a decent dinner instead of something hurried, which made us start dinner at about 6:45, after which I showered, tossed dress and shoes and hair things into bag, and ran off to... the D&D meeting, whereupon I "set up" my character or whatever. Then I ran off to Shoreland and a rather tipsy Catherine did my hair and makeup and Joanne took pictures (omg, Sushu in a dress! quick!), and then to Rebecca's cocktail party. Joanne was bartending, so I tried a few drinks. General conclusions from last night:
1) drunk people are funny, but it's not really them, so this whole "socialize by drinking" probably won't work too well.
2) there is little point in me being drunk with them. (I get a little detached, but more silly and free-association when approached, and talk loudly with a stupid look on my face. And I wave my hands around. A lot. One can only imagine the result if I actually get drunk.)
3) I can't mingle.
4) 4" heels are fine for the first 2 hours. Not so much for the following 2.
5) everyone's nose is different, but some are more different than others
Slept over at Joanne's. Walked home this morning to wait for bed.
Today was a generally fun/relaxing day. First Joanne & I co-ebayed for a Sean Bean/Boromir present for a friend. Then I made some 包子 (the pure meat kind) with 大包粉. The flour didn't work out too well, but I just got some yeast at the Co-op, along with some spinach, so if I want to make vegetarian ones some time, it should be pretty good. (Yeah, I went to the Co-op again tonight to get some veggies and some flour.) I'm in a dimsum kick right now. Feel like I can make anything! The 包子, though ugly, lived up to its meaty interior and after brief testing by cadrach, is now returned with the tupperware that I borrowed from them last quarter. (The borrowed tupperware had come with cookies and lemon poppyseed muffins, thus it needed to return with something as well) I've already started soaking the sweet rice for shumai tomorrow, and also cut the various stuff that go into it.
Things to do tonight:
- accounting: $$ spent this quarter thus far
- figure out reading due, start doing some (probably Hodgson?)
Things to do tomor:
- email NSP people
- make SMAC website
- make shumai filling and wonton filling
- move tea stuff to Reg locker
- calligraphy meeting at 1pm
- people come over at 2pm
- make wontons.
- do readings (probably Chinese Foreign Policy stuff)
Alas, have just discovered that this pair of jeans have developed holes. In unsightly places. Jean-count is down one! Need to go (thrift-store) shopping...

大包粉 is the flour+etc combo that I bought in Chinatown, supposedy for making baozi, but actually it's for the southern sweet buns.
