boring entry....

Yesterday... Got up a little before noon. It was Mom's day to make food, so she made dumplings for lunch. (Felt like calling her cheat, but they were so good nonetheless...) Then... the afternoon passed (I think I tried to mail a package, was unsuccessful, then Yibo called me over), and I had to go to the dinner party with The Family Friends. These are the people that we get together with every major holiday. Sort of like an "extended family", composed of 4-5 families, varying. The food is always good, the talk always not for "us kids", so we just go hang out in the "kids room," which varys depending on the host. Usually I'm not to eager for these things b/c "the kids" are usually a guy my age, a guy 6 years younger, and my brother. Which leads to the classic combo of video games and computer games. Actually, since my family is anti-video games (and anti-tv), it's my only chance to see what's up in the gaming world. By watching these guys duking it out with Mortal Kombat, and then Tekken, then Bond, and sometimes SoulCalibur. There were the tons of racing games like GT and 10-40 and those BMX bike things and numerous surfing, snowboarding, etc. I recall a few rpg-ish games like SolidSnake or Xenogears... I think Yipeng was trying to beat Xenogears by the New Year countdown. There was another time when he beat the final boss of some game, but couldn't get out of the building b/c he ignored the instructions. In general, the hours from 5pm-midnight were generally wasted staring idly at a screen where a little guy's walking around with strange weapon, ducking in and out and talking to people.

However, this past year has been different. Yipeng got a girlfriend. There was also this other random girl who would occasionally hang around, making it a less macho environment. There was more card playing, movie-watching, boy-teasying, and playing of girly games like Tekken where I can press random buttons and still win. :D. More enjoyable in general. Plus they make such a cute couple, always trying to beat each other up.

So that was last night.

This morning, got up at the unholy hour of 9am (^^;;) to do Chinese School makeup tests. OMG there was a little first-grader that was so cute!! Some people didn't test too well, though. Then there was an interview family in the afternoon. Now I'm just waiting to go to Last Samurai. ^^;;

Since getting my paid account, my LJ has been undergoing subtle changes. Although I haven't done any major layout changes, I finally switched to the S2 system, which is unbelievably cooler. With lots of syn points, I've also come to rely on LJ for comics and news, and filtered my friends page accordingly. I'll probably add comics once I figure out how to create new syn feeds. I guess next comes icon changes and phone posts and stuff when I get to it. ::shrug:: I'm taking it slow.
