And yes, ladies and gentlemen, there is angst in the world. Everyone has angst, some more so than others. Which makes them stronger and cooler people. And sometimes I sit here and wonder, given all the angst in the world, we're strangely optimistic.
I'm glad that I have been conditioned to not even dare to think about these things. Ignorance is bliss, man.
On a more entertaining note, I planned a calligraphy event and did a bunch of stuff in my dreams. Don't you love it when you accomplish more in the dream than in real life?
On an equally random note, mom called at 9:30 this morning to ask about signature markings on Shang bronzes. When I called back, Dad regaled me with this stuff about the importance of high academic expectations. It was refreshingly easier to retort when lying down, relaxed, and over the phone. I would never have said what I said if it were face to face, so hurrah for distance.
And now, the requisite recount of my day: Chinatown w/ Alex and Kim, then poked Kim enough to get Japanese textbook from her. Followed by vague attempts to study w/ Kim, followed by dinner w/ Kim and Michael (b/c I refuse to subject ppl to Pierce food), followed by more attempts to do research, followed by some walking and talking with
eptified, and acquiring a strong desire to have deep meaningful chats with the gumi and coming to a realizationg of my distaste for books. Sad that I do not enjoy reading anymore.
But yes, altogether a pleasant day, with listening not enough, talking a little too much, and thinking far too little. I was an irksome host and an irksome guest, so many apologies to all sides.
