So.
Shakespeare #1 tonight. (Twelfth Night from the Globe). OMG it was beautiful. Except for the ugly crossdressers. It made you suddenly appreciate why Shakespeare had so many girl roles crossdress -- b/c the guys look hella ugly, especially with the crappy wigs they had back then. (example: The picture is of Olivia). Anyway, it was awesome b/c they had all these weird renaissance instruments (like woodwinds made of wood, this GIANT lute thing...), and the play was pretty complete, and it was just good acting all around. The guy who acted Olivia was AWESOME. S/he waved a large axe around to defend Cesario. And the DUKE. Angsty Scottish Duke. *so* much hotter than the skinny boy(s) that were Sebastian/Cesario. Yum. (Although Sebastian was not bad.) I'm actually quite surprised at how feminine the guys were able to act, and also how fast they had to zip and twirl around the stage. Pretty dresses, too. Hilarious play and *so* worth the $$. Joanne promises to go to many when she goes to London for study abroad next year.
