Journal updating time!
It took me almost 2 hours yesterday just to catch up on a weekend's worth of LJ. Anyway, last weekend was very intense.
Friday, I stayed home from work to spend time with my brother and to help dad with textbook stuff. Friday lunch was spent with "American dining" at KFC, Friday dinner with some family friends who wanted to hear me talk about Paly, SATs, etc. The usual stuff. I've done the SAT talk so much I think I should charge for it. Crazy Chinese parents...
Saturday, the flight was at 2:20, so we (mom, brother, and I, because dad had this presentation to make in Milbrae about our Chinese stuff) left the house at 11:20 for the SFO. We got back at 5:10. Mom and brother included. What happened was that we were standing in the check-in line, but just when we were about to get to the front, we were called out to another line that flew directly to Shanghai. What happened was that the day before, the Air China plane broke down, so there's a whole flight of people who were pushed to the Saturday flight. Air China was trying to alleviate the cram by floating the direct-to-Shanghai people over to the United flight. So we wait in that line for another hour, only to find out that United closed the flight. There were actually 10 empty seats, but United didn't want to deal with the hassle, especially since they wanted to leave on time. So the 20 people waiting for the United flight were screwed, including us. By then the Air China flight was full as well, and there must have been 50 people left over from that. So we complained and got free airport hotel voucher and dinner stuffs, as well as guaranteed seating on the United flight the next day. That took about an hour. After we dropped our luggage in the hotel, we went over to Milbrae to meet up with dad, but we just missed him by 5 minutes. So we drove home and had dinner at home. After dinner, dad drove mom and John to the hotel again (b/c we don't have time to drive them over tomorrow b/c of Chinese school), while I started work on the presentation thing for Chinese school the next day. Like last week, worked till 3, then got up at 8:30 to work, all the way till the class started at 3:10. And I left some images at home, so it was a semi-lousy presentation. ugh.
And that ends Sunday.
