two things:
1) I have turned into The Kid in Soc class. The horror! Must shut up.
2) The inefficiency of governmental agencies: DMV (Not only were they clever enough to give me a middle name, their 800 number is currently down, which means I can't renew my non-existent drivers's license) and INS (the reason my driver's license is non-existent, and I suspect one of the reasons why it's taking so long is because *they* cleverly divided my name into a first and middle name.)
conclusion:
Our government is extremely smart.
