Sushu thinks Succession Decisions...
woo! Only 1 more chapter of Hobbes! ::dances::
y'know, it's weird. I was reading about rules of succession, and here's my thought process: (just cause I feel like sharing)
- man, what with all this family tracing thing, succession's not a very big issue in Europe is it? (compared to Dynastic China).
- oh wait, there's been several *wars* fought over succession rights. huh.
- why do they always leave the choice to others? Don't they realize that they're gonna die?
- see, the problem is that the kings don't have enough sons, and things always start getting a little icky when you have to trace the family tree. So maybe you were expecting your cousin twice removed on your father's side, but it turns out to go to your cousin once removed on your mother's side. (Both of which is Frodo, in case of Pippin)
- so therefore, Christianity screwed the European succession system. Emperors can have many concubines, and so will only have to worry about choosing a good son to succeed him. But when you can only have 1 wife at a time, and sex is so taboo, of course you'd lack male heirs.
- but that lead to a couple of strong women, which is good. Like Queen Elizabeth.
- damn, were those neck ruffs are ugly!

Okay, back to the grind!
