LJ survey

borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] cutemew, and slightly rearranged.

  1. Your live journal "user name" and what it means:
Summer is the literal translation of my last name. Comfort is the "shu" part of my first name. Resurrection/revive is the literal translation of the "su" part of my first name. (that's why my IM is ResurrectionHime)

  2. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your LJ represent who you are?
Hmm...I think there's really not much I wouldn't talk about on here. But usually LJ shows my more extraneous thoughts. Maybe because I don't spend a lot of time sitting around thinking deep thoughts. If I'm actually busy, I probably would write in LJ less. But yeah, I think it represents the me better perhaps than you would usually see. Why? a) when I post, I usually post for myself. With very little consideration for audience. That's why I often forget what and when I posted, because these are in reality little thought blurbs from my head. and b) I think my online personality is both a little more hyper/crazy and also a little more rational than my real personality. Hmm... is my online personality sucking away my RL personality? I know that if I've written about it on LJ, I usually wouldn't talk as much about it in other places.

  3. How much about your life do you post to LJ?
a lot. I guess I really do treat it like a journal of events/activities, things that I considered important. I mean, I don't write entries like "went to class today. here's a 2 paragraph description of what we talked about in class. here's another paragraph on what I ate for dinner and what people talked about. here's another detailed run-down of what I did tonight." But I do try to keep the important parts in. (because I'm just arrogant enough to assume that everyone wants to know about my day)

  4. Is there anything you refuse to post about?
Only the things I refuse to think about. And maybe some of the more ecchi stuff that pass briefly through my mind in a fraction of a second that should not be written down into words.

  5. On a scale of 1-10 how interesting do you think your own journal is to others?
Probably 2 or 3. Really, this* is a place for me to talk to myself so that I freak out my roomie.
*"this" being my livejournal, as opposed to my friends page, which is where I interact with other people's lives. And by interact, I mean barge in.

  6. How often do you respond / comment on other people's journals?
very often. I enjoy commenting (i.e. nosing about other people's lives), partly because it's fun to comment, and it's fun to get comments. my current stats is: entries posted: 535. comments posted: 475.

  7. Do you prefer to write in your journal, or read other journals?
I think I like both. Mostly because it's a self-feeding cycle. Afterall, LJ is a community of sorts. Your entries make others' friends' page more interesting/boring, and vice versa. And being on LJ checking friends would make you want to write in LJ. Of course, random weird people may be able to see your LJ, and sometimes you miss out on certain friends b/c they never post, but I think overall LJ is beautiful.

  8. From who/how did you find out about LJ?
I don't remember. I know I got it before the code thing came up. I think I heard Emily talking about it? and I know Jeanne and Karen got theirs before me... I think I just heard about it and sign up.

  9. Has anyone ever joined LJ because of you?
depends on how you count it. access code - wise, I've given to Nicole, my mom, my roomie, and Boston Alex (w/ code given by spiffy UChicago Alex, b/c my roomie gave away her code). Actual conversion-wise, I suppose I've only converted my mom, b/c the others just kinda came to me asking for code. Oh, and Australian James, although he never writes in it. And even my mom, I've only half converted (b/c she hasn't written in.. what? 2 months? ::nudgenudge::

  10. What percent of your posts are friends only?
I have no idea. probably around 3%? mostly gumi stuff that doesn't involve other people, and a few occasional rants.

  11. What is your favorite interest on LJ?
huh? To tell you the truth, I've never explored that aspect of LJ.

  12. Has anything on LJ ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something?
perhaps on a few people's personalities, etc, but ... no, not really. (it's quite sad to think that I have not changed after all these years. at least I feel like I haven't)

  13. Have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on LJ (or did it to someone else)?
Thankfully, no. But fyi, there *is* a [livejournal.com profile] lj_abuse if you are getting stalked, etc. I heard that they treat everything professionally and confidentially. (and since they have access to inside workings of LJ, things can be easier to handle than just doing it yourself.)

  14. Have you ever banned someone from your journal?
    No.

  15. Who are your 3 favorite LJ friend(s) and why?
This is a pointed and loaded question. But after considerable thought, I've decided that really, I can't decide. Because I'm always happy to hear from everyone. Perhaps I appreciate the rare Nicole or conejita entries because they're so rare, but it's just so much fun reading up on everyone. However, I can say who is my least favorite LJ friend: [livejournal.com profile] lj_support. They're nice people, though.

  16. How many of your LJ friends have you actually met?
all except for [livejournal.com profile] mr_pata, [livejournal.com profile] cassieclaire and [livejournal.com profile] antipeople(I don't even know who s/he is...).

  17. Of all of the people on LJ you know of, who is the most like you?
... I don't know. Never really thought about it. And a hard question to answer, because I'm not to sure what "I" am, and especially how I appear to other people. (sometimes I go back and read my entries and think, "omg, I wrote this? this isn't me at all!"

  18. Why are you most likely to add someone to your friends list?
They're friends, and I want to know how they're doing.

  19. Do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first?
No. If only they're friends. Or friends of friends. (some vague connection to RL)

  20. What is the most likely reason you wouldn't add someone to your friends list?
okay, this part of the survey starts getting a little silly. Actually, from question 13+ has been a little silly. But yeah, I wouldn't add someone if I am not linked to him/her in any way.
(I used to be able to say "I won't friend if I don't know them". In fact, I de-friended someone early on b/c I felt bad not knowing her in person but still listening in on her life. (And of course "publicky" stuff like cassieclaire don't really count). But w/ mr_pata, I felt a little voyeur-ish, but he's a cool guy with definitely an interesting life, plus he + conejita on my friends page works well together. I actually feel like I know him a little bit.)

  21. Is your "significant other" on LJ?
not that I have any, but the straightforward answer would be.. "no". Although it would be a plus when I do get myself significantly othered.

  22. Have you ever wanted to meet someone on LJ?
mr_pata! conejita! bring carlo home! get him to fly plane up! hehe.

and all this thinking of about LJ has lead me to look at my LJ and be ashamed. I also think that the days should not be broken at midnight, but at where you sleep. Like, at 1 or 2 am.
