doodles and a movie

wheee! huzzah for digital camera! Now the people who are really trying to avoid doing homework can do something as inane as looking at my doodles from class, all shamelessly captured by camera, without regard to quality. Actually, the first one is my art hw, done in about 45 minutes when it was supposed to take me 3 hours. ^^;; The rest are all in-class... My doodles are quite vicious... they take over my notes...
And you can tell that it's crappy art b/c I'm not even taking the effort to scan them.

On the other hand, I went and saw Road to Perdition this afternoon. Stunning visuals. Nearing over-saturation, in fact. Even though it was in color, it might as well have been a black-and-white movie, everything is shot with stark lighting. They're not afraid to have most of the screen black, which makes the parts that do have color even more stunning. Plot-wise, okay, I guess. There's "the message" that the audience is supposed to get, and they're not subtle about it.... What is a father's obligation to his son? And what is the son's obligation to his father? How does the son define himself from his father? Overall a great movie, although in terms of gettin the message across, it seemed a little detached, not altogether meshed with the imagery. I mean, it's like seeing a Caravaggio and then having the label sorta explain the painting, but not really. But again, beautiful, beautiful cinematography, and sound. (The "oh oh! lookat me!" kind, but way better than Thin Red Line)
