2006, 2007
This has been an intense year. Got lotsa things done, and started lotsa new things. Which, in a way, forces me to sift a bit more this year. Now, normally I'd cut such long posts. But it's New Year's, it's my LJ, so y'all can deal. :)
Highlights
- successfully writing and turning a BA of moderate non-suckage! 18 pages in a week, woot!
- The Most Wonderful ACen Ever?
--> sheepishly picking up 35 badges and con bags at Registration. (Registration peeps: wtf?!!?)
--> Waking up to the smell of bacon Saturday morning. (Thanks CatN!)
--> Okonomiyaki and onigiri, courtesy Aza
--> gold spray in the hotel room
--> Walking around the dealer's room with Cat!
--> And, oh yeah, TOTALLY PWNING the MASQ. :D (we were too smooth for words)
- Visiting China! Wow, it's been so long (4 years!) but China is still full of Awesome.
- Visiting Japan! Man, life-long dream. There was the sumo wrestling, the hanging around with Helena and Stephen as well as Michelle and her boy. Getting lightly electricuted in the baths, all the cute outfits that Lena wore...
- Graduating and moving on. STEP, etc.
- Getting a new house: wtf? How did that happen? But after all the searching on the real estate market, and then getting the furniture, and then the moving... I still have ...14 boxes to unpack.
- no longer bitter about "love" and "relationships."
Lowlights:
- never finishing the last x weeks of Japanese 1 due to inability to wake up in the morning. (The irony is that now I have to get up at 6:15 for school)
- so little time off from school! :( STEP started 6/26. Boo.
- Graduating and moving on. I miss Chicago! :( Kim tells me there's a traffic light in Chinatown now, so no more scampering... The campus, anime club, hanging out and making food and absorbing the geekitude...
- lost communication (or topics of conversation?) with several important friends. (Sadly, especially the ones who don't post on LJ)
The verdict is still out on STEP, but it'll be over in 6 months regardless. (Gah! Am I ready for the Adult Life?)
Last Year's Resolutions:
1) Learn to prioritize: Do not overwhelm self with non-essentials.
Specifically: clubs, comics
Getting better at it. Success: CGU. Failure: Japanese
2) Graduate
Success!
3) Get a job or get into STEP
Success!
4) Spend less time online, and make online time "quality time"
Better, but not great. Have at least foresworn chat.
5) Learn to talk to adult people
Fail. Given up?
All right, New Year's Resolutions:
1) Slack off less. Be more effective in getting work done (it will give you the appearance of responsibleness!)
2) Work towards better health. (fix spine issue, fix period, take walks)
3) Inspire students. Or at least teach them something.
4) Socialize more with STEP people
5) Do not lose track of old friends!
6) Become financially solvent
7) Do not let go of silly dreams
Hmm... 2 years ago I only had 2 resolutions, last year I had 5. This year... 7! I keep trying to cut it down to 5, but every one of those points seem vital. Is my life getting more complicated?
I'm dreading the start of school on Tuesday (which is technically tomorrow. Boo) And with that comes the start of All Sorts of Work.
Things Still to Do this week:
- lesson plan for next semester
- grade Chinese School finals. (And oh shit, HS papers as well)
- prepare for start of STEP
- draw pictures for Chinese School
