Today has been a pretty relaxed day. Except for my Japanese oral that I just failed.

But besides that, Joanne and I made muffins (a recipe from food_porn, not enough sugar, a tad too much baking soda), and food, and I ... um... read Girl Genius on Alexis' suggestion. (^^;;) Oh, and Joanne and I worked on ChoMUN stuff.

But the weirdest thing is that this 12-year-old in Paducah, KY, apparently really wants to enter the Japanese animation industry, so her very earnest and very supportive mother emailed me because, after all, I'm the president of the Japanese Animation Society at the University of Chicago, and damn does that sound like I've got the mad connections. I'm trying to help her, but it's still kinda "woah". She's 3 hours from St. Louis and 2 hours from Nashville, and just off the southern tip of Illinois. Her daughter has been taking Japanese lessons online.

Oh, my STEP acceptance envelope came today. And it's dreadfully anticlimatic. There was this thin litttle booklet thing about the program. Except that it's normal paper, stapled on the side with two staples. Not even saddle stitch! And to put veneer of professionalism to it, the cover sheet is printed on thick photo paper. Except it made the entire booklet hard to flip, cause the rest of the sheets are your average 80 lb sheets, and there's no stiffer back. OMG TEH GHETTO. And apparently, to accept the admittance, you go to the SUNet ID place and basically get an email account. Except that they said that I already have one, but it's inactive, and is spelled SUSHAXIA

Thank you, Stanford, for a loverly administration.

Tonight's post is brought to you by Joanne making French chokey noises.
