They are real comics, but the twist is that what's happening on the cover is never really what happens inside. Or at least, it does, but it's not what you think it is. For example, one (fake) situation is where superman ties lois lane to train tracks or something but then maybe he saves her at the last second because he did it to lure a bad guy and then he defeats the bad guy or something. But the cover just shows Superman tying Lois Lane to the tracks.
